New creative direction for UK's Freshlay Farms Brand

Packaging turns to gold for Noble Food's speciality free-range eggs

“We wanted to rethink the positioning for Freshlay Farms and needed something really special to define the brand’s new direction and style, so we came to Hartmann,” said Anita Nutchey, Marketing Manager at Noble Foods. “The smart, contemporary label incorporates a special print refinement, with a partial golden foil on the label. A perfect match for the brand’s signature Golden Yolker™ eggs,” Anita adds.

It’s certainly attracting the customers – and some awards, too! Noble Foods is proud to say that the Golden Yolker™ brand has recently won a Great Taste Award for its packs of 6 and 10 free range eggs. The judges praised the distinct flavour of the eggs – in their words, “it’s a buttery, fatty mouthful”.

The yolks tell the story: these eggs come from healthy hens

The hens are fed a natural vegetarian maize diet which gives them their rich, smooth and flavoursome golden yolks.   And what really makes these eggs special is that the hens are free to furtle and forage through the trees and shrubbery, and flourish as only happy-go-lucky, free-roaming hens can. They get everything they need and nothing they don’t – which means they produce eggs with all the taste and goodness consumers crave.

Setting the gold standard for package labels

To do these very special eggs justice, Hartmann employed some very special technology.

The labels – like all Hartmann labels – are offset-printed in 6 colours. Next, we use a technical process known as ‘hot foil stamping’ or ‘embossing’ to add the golden part-foil Golden Yolker™ logo and the sun in the background.

This involves making a customised embossing tool for each label size – but for our clients, it’s worth the effort. The gold leaping out of the label really pushes the brand’s USP – that rich, deep, golden-yellow yolk. And the label also emphasizes the product’s unique freshness, yolk colour and origin from trusted, free range farms. 

It’s a stylish, high-quality pack that leaps off the shelf whilst underlining the premium quality of the egg. The new packs have been on sale since December 11th and have been brightening up supermarket shelves with their lustrous gold embossing on the front and top.
